About Music
A student’s day includes full orchestra rehearsals led by conductor Joseph Illick, where they experience the excitement of bringing music to life. Under the guidance of Co-Executive Director Rachel Segal, who leads the chamber music program, students play in small ensembles, allowing them to engage in a more intimate musical conversation.
During the week students participate in Jazz Day and Bluegrass Day, giving them the opportunity to explore new musical genres, helping the development of improvisation skills, versatility, and an appreciation for different styles of music. In the evenings, students perform concerts open to lodge guests and the local community, giving them valuable experience playing for live audiences, building confidence, and enjoying sharing music with others.
